Zhongshan Park Area has a long history. It is one of the most famous colonial parks in modern times of Shanghai, originally named as “Zhaofeng Garden” with nearly hundred-year history. St. John 's university, a famous missionary university, is in the north of the park and renamed as East China University of Politics and Law. The old villa-garden houses in the east and south of the park are listed as one of 12 historical streets which shall be protected in the layout.
